Our scanner has a wider bore at 70 cm and gives the patient more room inside the scanner for broad shoulders or bigger body habitus.
We have an increased weight limit of 500 pounds compared to the traditional 350 pound weight limit.
Also, the top of the scanner is further away from the patients head, reducing claustrophobia.
Another benefit is that the bore is shorter in length, so more of the patients body is out of the scanner during the procedure.
Another way we can reduce claustrophobia is to let patients go in feet first ( if their scan allows). This position allows for your head to remain out of the scanner during your exam.
You will also be given a call button to press should you need to communicate with your technologist during your imaging time.
